Kevin Feige Makes Surprise Appearance in X-Men Comic

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was cordially invited to mingle with the X-Men at the Hellfire Gala in X-Men #21.As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Feige made it onto the special guest list for X-Men #21, the latest chapter of the Gala storyline that hit stores on June 9. The heroes of Krakoa were given the spotlight at the lavish party, but it was Cyclops who specifically caught Feige's eye. "So, what's your story?" Feige asked the X-Men captain, striking up conversation. "Well, it's complicated," Cyclops replied.Image credit: Marvel ComicsOver the next few pages, Cyclops proceeds to present his life history to Feige, who is presumably left standing at the event mulling it over long after the newly formed X-Men team depart. The meeting appears to serve as a nod to those fans who have been wondering how the X-Men might be integrated into the MCU ever since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox's film and TV assets in 2019.Writer Jonathan Hickman brought the meta moment to life for his final issue of this series, along with artists Nick Dragotta, Russell Dauterman, Lucas Wernick, Sara Pichelli, Frank Martin, Matt Wilson, Sonny Gho, and Nolan Woodward. The series picked up where House of X and Powers of X left off, introducing new threats to Krakoa and laying the groundwork for bigger conflicts to come.[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/09/20/x-men-kevin-feige-to-take-over-franchise”]Hickman is departing X-Men in order to launch a new series called Inferno. The series shares its name with the 1989 crossover, which dealt with Madelyne Pryor's transformation into the Goblin Queen and a demonic invasion of New York. According to Marvel, fans can expect "revelations from the lives of Moira MacTaggert, Nimrod's revenge, vicious power plays, and more" when Inferno hits shelves in September. While the X-Men continue their adventures in the comic books, we may be waiting a while to see the mutant superheroes show up in the MCU. But even if we're likely not going to see a new X-Men movie before 2023 at the earliest, that doesn't necessarily mean Marvel won't begin laying the groundwork for the X-Men sooner. There are a number of ways Phase 4 could set the stage for mutants in the MCU.So you may want to pay close attention to the next few entries coming up on the MCU Phase 4 slate, particularly Marvel's Eternals, which is coming out later this year, as well as 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Black Panther: Wakana Forever — a…
