Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Andrew House announced that every PlayStation 4 console ever made will become HDR compatible via a firmware update coming next week. House made the announcement at the PlayStation press briefing today alongside the reveal of a new, slimmer PS4 model and the PlayStation 4 Pro, previously codenamed the Neo. PS4 Pro Price and Release Date Announced

At Sony’s PlayStation Meeting today, the company unveiled its 4K and HDR-supporting console dubbed the PS4 Pro, will cost $399 USD and will launch November 10, 2016. Lead systems architect Mark Cerny shared some of the updated specifications for the PS4 Pro, including more than double the power of the GPU and a boosted clock rate of the CPU. Cerny also said Sony would be “providing a number of mechanisms for easily transferring your game library and entitlements from the standard model to the new console.” Brandin Tyrrel is an Editor at IGN. The PlayStation Neo is the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony revealed today at PlayStation’s press conference. Sony’s Andrew House said that the PS4 Pro will “stand alongside and compliment the original PS4” with its 4K and HDR capabilities. The same game discs and downloads will run on the PS4 and PS4 Pro. PlayStation announced a smaller PlayStation 4 model at its September press briefing today, which will take the place of the currently available PS4 as the standard system model. The new “slimmer, lighter, more energy efficient” PS4 model will be available in most territories beginning September 15 for $299. Apple Confirms iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Release Date

Apple has confirmed the existence of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and announced that both will be available on September 16. iPhone 7 will cost $649 and come in 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB models. The iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769 and is available in the same sizes. Pre-orders will be open September 9. iOS 10 will be available on September 13. The new iPhone models do not feature a headphone jack, as previous leaks suggested, and instead will use the lightning port for audio and feature stereo speakers. The iPhone 7 will also be water and dust resistant and comes in jet black, black, gold, silver, and rose gold. Apple says over 900 million devices feature a lightning connector in the world and showcased lightning headphones on stage during the conference.
