Twitter Dispenses Meme Justice Against Christopher Nolan's Reported "No Chairs" Policy

Twitter Dispenses Meme Justice Against Christopher Nolan's Reported "No Chairs" Policy

As a result of yesterday’s revelation from Anne Hathaway that Christopher Nolan didn’t allow chairs on the set of The Dark Knight Rises because sitting somehow implies that actors aren’t actively engaged with the work, Twitter has sprung into action to criticize the director’s anti-sitting stance. Comments have been running the gamut from labor concerns to obligatory dunks with memes.Twitter is also split about how far-ranging this “policy” might actually be. Hathaway mentioned it in passing to Hugh Jackman–who also worked with Nolan on 2006’s The Prestige–in an interview from Variety’s long-running Actor on Actors feature. Hathaway described the director’s preference both in the context of wanting her to be able to do as many of her own stunts as possible, to be an actor with physical endurance. But elsewhere in the interview, she also mentioned working with Nolan on another film (presumably 2014’s Interstellar), and there not being chairs available there, either. Here’s Hathaway’s full quote on that: “He doesn’t allow chairs, and his reasoning is, if you have chairs, people will sit, and if they’re sitting, they’re not working. I mean, he has these incredible movies in terms of scope and ambition and technical prowess and emotion. It always arrives at the end under schedule and under budget. I think he’s onto something with the chair thing.”Continue Reading at GameSpot

Microsoft's Cheaper Next-Gen Xbox's CPU Is More Powerful Than PS5 – Report

Microsoft's Cheaper Next-Gen Xbox's CPU Is More Powerful Than PS5 – Report

Microsoft is reportedly poised to finally reveal its cheaper, less-powerful new Xbox in August. The project, codenamed Lockhart, has been detailed in numerous leaks previously, but the latest suggests that despite its lacking graphical prowess it’s not cutting any other corners.Tom Warren, reporting for The Verge, has revealed that the Xbox Lockhart will feature the exact same CPU speeds as the much more powerful Xbox Series X, according to a document detailing its specifications. This means Lockhart will have a faster CPU than Sony’s PS5, which tails Microsoft’s consoles by 100 MHz in a best-case scenario.Lockhart will also use the same SSD and Velocity Architecture for storage, meaning games developed for both it and the Series X can make use of the speedier storage in the same way. The biggest difference is graphical power, with Lockhart reportedly targeting just 4 teraflops of GPU performance (lower than the Xbox One X), while the Series X targets 12 teraflops. Lockhart will also have less RAM, with only 7.5GB useable for games as opposed to 13.5GB in the Series X.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Fortnite Is Leaving Early Access But Save The World Won't Be Free

Epic Games has said that it would come soon at multiple points, but now we know it’s not happening as all Fortnite modes finally exit Early Access.”Today we’re bringing Save the World out of Early Access and have decided that it will remain a premium experience rather than going free-to-play,” Epic Games said in a post on their official site. “Development of new content will slow down after this official release, but the adventure doesn’t end here for Save the World.”Epic Games went on to say that the Early Access label will be removed from the battle royale and creative game modes in Fortnite as well. Justice League's Ray Fisher Takes Back Everything Nice He Said About Joss Whedon

While HBO Max continues to promote the Snyder Cut of DC’s the Justice League, which will feature Darkseid, a cast member has spoken out. However, it doesn’t look too kindly on the director that replaced Zack Snyder during production on the original version.Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in the movie, tweeted out a video of himself from a Comic-Con panel in 2017 featuring the cast where he discussed Joss Whedon coming on. However, Fisher has now retracted those statements.I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement: pic.twitter.com/1ECwwu6TG1 — Ray Fisher (@ray8fisher) June 29, 2020A question from the audience during the panel asked the cast about the reshoots and wanted to know if they were filming “Part 2” of the movie. Fisher responded, “Well, if it’s a secret, we can’t tell you that, first off, right? I think we’re just about finished with everything. They’ve been brief, if anything. Joss [Whedon] is a great guy and Zack [Snyder] picked a good guy to clean up… to finish up for him.” The caption that goes along with the tweet states, “I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement.”Continue Reading at GameSpot

Rainbow Six Siege Y5S2.1 Patch Notes Introduce Match Cancellation

Rainbow Six Siege Y5S2.1 Patch Notes Introduce Match Cancellation

A big update for Rainbow Six Siege is going live this week, bringing a new feature that will smooth out unbalanced teams so you won’t have to suffer through a full match a teammate drops. Match Cancellation will be live in the Year 5 Season 2.1 (Y5S2.1) update. As detailed in Ubisoft’s patch notes, match cancellation lets players vote to end the current Ranked match if team sizes are unbalanced due to some issue that other players couldn’t help–for example, players on one team disconnecting in the first round. During the prep phase, the incomplete team will get to vote and a majority opinion will cancel the match. When a match is canceled in this way, it won’t impact your rank.Ubisoft does caution, though, that you’ll still get an abandon penalty for leaving an ongoing Ranked match, and the more you do it, the worse penalties will get. That will also apply if you leave in the middle of a Match Cancellation vote, so make sure you wait until the vote is complete and the game registers as canceled.Continue Reading at GameSpot
