EA Explains Why It Offers Limited Nintendo Switch Support

EA CEO Andrew Wilson has opened up on why the publisher offers limited support for Nintendo Switch, saying it’s because people prefer to play EA games on other platforms. During EA’s first quarter earnings call this week an analyst floated the idea for The Sims on Switch, but EA’s head honcho disagreed. “Any time we’re evaluating platform conversations we’re really looking at a couple of things,” said Wilson. “One, does the game really fit the profile of that platform in terms of the control or the community ecosystem? Two, do we think the community playing on that platform would appreciate the game and go there, or would they prefer to play it somewhere else? “We have a lot of data that would suggest a great many Switch owners also own a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One or a PC and very often choose to play the games that we make on those platforms, even though they have a Switch and they enjoy a lot of great content on the Switch.” Continue reading…

Big Discounts on Gaming PCs, Laptops, and Accessories Today Only

Amazon’s Deal of the Day is on HP Omen gaming PCs and laptops, and on Redragon mice and keyboards. The desktops and laptops are refurbished (or “renewed,” as Amazon puts it), so these discounts are stacked on top of the already-lower-than-usual prices, making for some terrific bargains. Let’s have a look at what’s available. Continue reading…

Avengers Writers Reveal Smart Hulk Was Cut From Infinity War

The writers of Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War have revealed that Smart Hulk originally made his debut in Infinity War, but a late change saw him cut from the film and reserved for Endgame. As reported by Gamespot, screenwriter Steve McFeely explained in the Avengers: Endgame audio commentary that the merging of Bruce Banner and the Hulk was supposed to happen in Avengers: Infinity War. “The whole arc of the story was Banner and Hulk were not getting along. Hulk wouldn’t come out to help him. And at his hour of greatest need Continue reading…

FIFA 20: The FUT Changes That Actually Matter

FIFA 20: The FUT Changes That Actually Matter

Unsurprisingly, Ultimate Team is back for another year in FIFA 20, complete with its familiar addictive squad building, plethora of game modes and microtransactions – or “surprise mechanics” as they are now known. These aspects aren’t changing, for better or worse, but what actually IS new this year? Here are what we think are the biggest changes to FUT in FIFA 20. Season Objectives “A new sense of progression” is apparently crucial to FUT this year and key to that are the new Season Objectives. EA hope that these will have the same impact on the game mode that Squad Building challenges did when introduced in FIFA 17. Essentially these work similar to a battle pass system – you earn XP for completing challenges, which will move you up into higher levels, thus earning better rewards. Continue reading…

The X-Men Begin a Most X-Cellent Adventure Through Time

The X-Men Begin a Most X-Cellent Adventure Through Time

With the debut of Powers of X, we now have a firm idea of what the second half of Jonathan Hickman’s ambitious X-Men revamp involves. Powers of X #1 manages to be both a natural companion piece to House of X #1 and a very different reading experience. This issue justifies the decision to publish Hickman’s opening story as two separate miniseries rather than one 12-issue book. But at the same time, Powers of X #1 shows that there’s not much to be gained by attempting to read this book alone. If House of X is about establishing a bold new status quo for the X-Men, Powers of X (the number ten, not the letter) is a more “big picture” story. This issue alternates between four distinct time periods in X-Men history, ranging from the birth of Charles Xavier’s dream to the mutant race’s distant future. Because of that fractured chronology, Powers of X #1 is somewhat less focused than House of X #1. It also ties into the events of that issue closely enough that it doesn’t wholly stand on its own. Readers may be able to get away with only following House of X over the next three months, but the same doesn’t seem true for Powers of X. Continue reading…
