Dozens of Aquaman Toys Create Epic Undersea Battle at Comic-Con 2018

Comic-Con is underway, and Mattel is showing off some upcoming DC figures that’ll be hitting stores in late 2018. Unsurprisingly, the company will be focusing a great deal on December’s Aquaman movie, with their booth featuring an epic undersea battle between rival Atlantean armies. They also showed off a new wave of DC Multiverse figures inspired by DC’s Rebirth comics and a line of Harry Potter dolls. Check out the slideshow below to see what Mattel has on display at Comic-Con right now. Included in this lineup are several new additions to Mattel’s DC Multiverse Signature series line, which features movie-based figures. Also spotlighted are a Mera-themed Barbie doll, Mattel’s SDCC-exclusive Aquaman: Between Two Dooms set and a new wave of DC Comics Multiverse figures that will include pieces to construct a Lobo “Collect-and-Connect” figure. The 10 Best '80s Action Movies

The 10 Best '80s Action Movies

The 1980s were a golden era for action cinema, with giant blockbusters and innovative low-budget films alike, many of them changing the way audiences looked at the genre. With the innovation of crazier stunts and more exhilarating effects and a sudden shift in the industry towards movies that appealed to younger demographics (thanks, in large part, to Star Wars), filmmakers were pushing the limits of the medium left and right with more exciting and imaginative thrill rides than ever before. So coming up with a list of the very best action movies of the 1980s is, unsurprisingly, ridiculously difficult. Many a frantic debate was held at the IGN offices about whether films like Batman were action-packed enough, or whether films like RoboCop were just too danged funny to qualify. And everyone was pretty bummed out when at least one of their favorite movies didn’t make the cut (sorry Big Trouble in Little China, you came THIS close!). Continue reading…

Changes Are Coming for Nearly All of Overwatch's Support Heroes

Changes Are Coming for Nearly All of Overwatch's Support Heroes

There’s some bad news for Overwatch players tired of Mercy’s repeated changes and nerfs. Blizzard will make changes to Mercy along with four of Overwatch’s five other support characters in the next patch. Announced by Lead Designer Geoff Goodman in a forum post yesterday, the changes are meant to keep the support characters competitive with one another. In addition to Mercy, Ana, Brigitte, Lucio, and Moira are all getting changes. That means Zenyatta is the sole support character who will remain unchanged, with Goodman explaining that Zenyatta’s “doing his job well as a hybrid damage/healer, and being able to provide discord orb for your team will always be welcome.” Continue reading…

Satisfactory Is A Factory Sim From The Creators of Goat Simulator

Satisfactory Is A Factory Sim From The Creators of Goat Simulator

Few things are as perplexing to me as the gaming world’s fascination with menial simulation games. Farming Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, and even Street Cleaning Simulator are all real games that people play for dozens of hours. Goat Simulator, the game that majorly put Coffee Stain Studios on the map following the modest success of their tower defense meets FPS hybrid series, Sanctum, was a nearly direct parody of those very games. Now, with Satisfactory, the studio has seemingly come full-circle. Instead of being a parody on realistic simulation games, it sprints in the other direction by letting players craft intricate and elaborate factories that slowly expand and grow in both size and complexity. It’s a bit tedious, sure, but it’s also a bit remarkable in its own way. Continue reading…

Today, Rockstar explained that players will then use their clubs “as a front for the most concentrated network of criminal enterprise ever to hit San Andreas,” Grand Theft Auto’s fictional version of California. First Look: Grant Morrison Takes Over DC's Green Lantern With Liam Sharp

First Look: Grant Morrison Takes Over DC's Green Lantern With Liam Sharp

DC Comics are relaunching The Green Lantern comic series this November with acclaimed writer Grant Morrison (Batman, All-Star Superman) and artist Liam Sharp (The Brave and the Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman) taking lead hero Hal Jordan back to his classic roots. “Instead of the big, epic, 12-part stories, we’re focusing down on the everyday life of a space cop. Basically, it’s no more apocalypse-ending storylines,” Morrison told IGN over a phone interview along with Sharp. “The basic concept is that is like a space cop that patrols a sector of the universe where anything can happen. We’ve made it more like a police procedural.” A similar grounding tactic was taken after Geoff Johns rebooted the character back in 2005. We saw Hal simply fighting various villains while trying to keep Earth’s sector of the universe under control. In time, though, the storylines grew to become more vast and grand in scale, resulting in interstellar wars and enemies so mind-bendingly powerful that they threatened existence itself. That trend continued with Robert Venditti’s run that saw the Green Lantern Corps tasked with saving the universe from dying — and that was just the first storyline. You can see why, then, that Morrison and Sharp are intent on keeping things more contained for the foreseeable future. Continue reading…
